HASANOĞLAN ATATÜRK SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL
Our school is located in Hasanoğlan town of Elmadağ, 34 km Northeast of the capital Ankara. It was established in 1940 as a village institute. Village institutes were schools for the training of the village primary school teachers which would provide the future teachers with necessary practical training enabling them to cope with the problems of villages.
Our school has served under different names in order to fulfill various functions in our education system since its establishment.
Ø Our school was established as Hasanoğlan village institute in order to train teachers in our villages according to the law of the village institutes dated April 17, 1940
Ø On April 18, 1941, a team from the Kepirtepe Village Institute participated in the work. This team initially settled in the village school area and tents. The construction of the planned buildings was started on 10 July 1941. Most of them were built between 1941 and 1944 quickly. In the meantime, on 6 June 1943, Hasanoğlan Village Institute was legitimized as 'Higher Village Institute', which was aimed to educate instructors, medical officials, and inspectors for the other institutes. Therefore, a school building for Higher Village education was constructed just near the ceremony area, in 1944.
Ø Fine arts, mining work, construction, field and garden care, animal care, agricultural enterprises, and handicrafts were the main sections of the Higher Village Institute. Then the health branch was opened.
Ø In 1947, the Higher Village Institute and the health branch were closed. In 1954 the small village Institutes were combined with Primary Schools and received the name of the Primary School of Atatürk.
Ø In the 1973- 1974 academic year, our school was transformed into a school that educated teachers in 7 years and its name was changed to Atatürk Primary Teachers School.
Ø After two years, our school was named Atatürk Teacher Training High School. As a result of this change, it is planned to be a step for the institutions that train teachers.
Ø On September 25, 1989, it was Atatürk Anatolian Teacher Training High School. On July 3, 2014, it was transformed into Science High School with the order of the Ministry and it was named Hasanoğlan Atatürk Science High School.
Today, its name is " Hasanoğlan Atatürk Science High School". 450 students from many provinces of Turkey are educated and approximately 300 of them remain boarding on campus.
